School Program

This program is provided by the Durham Catholic District School Board through the Durham alternative school program and facilitated by a certified Board of Education teacher. Young parents are often referred to this program by their guidance counsellor; however, clients are able to self refer as well.  They can attend classes at Rose of Durham while they are pregnant, up until their child turns about 1 year of age. They are then transitioned back to a mainstream school, college, or alternative program.

Classes are offered during the regular school year from September to June, recognizing all regular breaks such as Christmas and March Break as well as holidays, and Professional Development days. Correspondence based lessons with the hands on support of an onsite teacher are provided.

School is open to both young men and women, and the teacher is on-site Mondays and Wednesdays. Students are encouraged to attend both days to remain current with lessons (both correspondence and in class).
